Grateful Heights Roofing will remove the existing 1-layer (1434 SF) (approximately 15 sq) from the main roof and front overhang down to the existing plywood decking. IKO Dynasty shingles and ridge cap to be installed, with 6 nails per full-length shingle (due to the home’s proximity to salt water). Inadequate overhangs for soffit/soffit vent and no ridge vent installed are also noted. Building attic area is 1,110 (1110 sq/ft 1/150: = 11.4 (1065 sq/ft minimum of NFVA needed).

Grateful Heights Roofing will remove the existing 1-layer (1433 SF) from the upper main roof and front overhang down to the existing plywood decking. They will install 2 courses (6') of ice and water barrier on all eaves, plywood/deck tape on all plywood not covered with ice and water, and TopShield synthetic underlayment. New flashing, including F8" drip edge and C4.5" rake edge, will be installed. IKO Dynasty shingles and ridge cap will be installed, using 6 stainless steel nails per full-length shingle due to the home's proximity to salt water. Ventilation: Existing ventilation consists of X2 30"W x 42"H gable vents, each providing 8.75 sq/ft of ventilation, as well as a ridge vent causing issues with cross ventilation. It is also noted that there are no eave overhangs for soffit/soffit vent. To correct the ventilation, the ridge vent will be closed and ventilation will revert to the gable vents, which exceed the 1/150 rule for cross ventilation. Building dimensions: 26'x37'. NFVA: 962 sq/Ft. (1/150) = 6.41 SQ/FT of intake/exhaust vent needed, split 50/50.

Grateful Heights Roofing will work only on the back section of the home, removing the existing 1-layer (1860 SF, approximately 19 SQ) from the upper main roof and front overhang down to the existing plywood decking. Install 2 courses (6') of ice and water barrier on all eaves. Install plywood/deck tape on all plywood not covered with ice and water, as well as TopShield synthetic underlayment. Install new flashing, including F8" drip edge and C4.5" rake edge. Install IKO Dynasty shingles and ridge cap, with 6 nails per full-length shingle. Ventilation: Existing ventilation consists of X2 24"W x 32"H gable vents, as well as center-vented soffit that vents straight through, providing 7-8 sq/in per 1/linear ft and running the length of both eaves, providing (x100') 700-800 sq/in of intake ventilation. To correct the ventilation, close both gable vents from the interior with 1/2" CDX plywood, cut ridge ventilation (1 1/2" from both sides of the ridge beam), and install 46' of Owens Corning Ventsure PVC ridge vent, providing 18-20 sq/in per 1/linear ft and 828-920 sq/in of exhaust ventilation. Building dimensions: 49'x30'. NFVA: 1470 sq/Ft. (1/150) = 9.8 SQ/FT (1,411 sq/in) minimum intake/exhaust vent needed. New system providing 1,528-1720 sq/in.
