A native of New Canaan, Connecticut, he earned his degree in architecture from the University of Notre Dame, where he spent a year in the university's architecture program in Rome. He joined the firm of Shope Reno Wharton on Greenwich in 1984 and was named partner in 1986. His work at SRW focused on residential architecture in the greater metropolitan area.IN 1988, Demmerle established his own architectural practice in Fairfield County, concentrating exclusively on the design of residential architecture.
